• Classifies and marks incoming laundry with identifying code number, by hand or using machine.
• Tends washing machine, extractor, and tumbler to clean and dry laundry.
• Finishes laundered articles, using hand iron, pressing machine, or feeds and folds flatwork on flatwork ironing machine.
• Sorts laundry and verifies count on laundry ticket.
• May perform related tasks, such as mending torn articles, using sewing machine or by affixing adhesive patches.
• May wrap articles.
• May specialize in receiving and washing, or in finishing and checking, and be designated according to unit in which work is performed as Laundry Operator, Finishing; Laundry Operator, Wash Room.
