The central embedded controller of the Clinac. The system functions performed by the Supervisor are:

• Accepting commands from the workstation and control devices (such the dedicated keyboard in the console room; hand pendants and couch side panels in the treatment room). • Controlling and monitoring the execution of a treatment plan (beam) by coordinating the movement of motion axes with dose delivery. • Controlling manual and automatic movement of machine axes. • Reporting status and position data to the workstation. • Implementing safety critical tasks such as receiving and processing faults from nodes, testing safety loops, raising faults or asserting interlocks, and stopping motion or treatment if a potentially dangerous situation is detected.
