• Presses pedal to close gripping die on stock and to advance ram, squeezing end of metal into gripping die cavity.
• Moves workpiece through series of dies to shape stock progressively to specifications.
• Verifies dimensions of forged piece, using set gauges.
• May set up and operate closed-die forging machine to expand end of cold metal.
