A prosimian primate in the family Daubentoniidae inhabiting Madagascar. It is the most endangered of all mammals in Madagascar. A member of the order Primates and the suborder Prosimiae, aye-ayes (Daubentonia madagascariensis) (see illus.) are most closely related to the lemurs.
