A professional who draws molten metal from cupola into ladles for pouring into molds to make castings. Respnsibilities include:

• Signals overhead crane operator or metal pourer to place ladle under cupola spout.
• Withdraws bott (clay plug) from taphole, using long iron rod, and allows molten metal to flow into ladle.
• Inserts new plug on end of rod when ladle is full.
• Molds clay plugs by hand and affixes them to rods.
