• Determines kinds and quantities of crops to grow according to market conditions, weather, and farm size and location.
• Selects and purchases supplies, such as seeds, fertilizers, and farm machinery, and arranges with buyers for sale of crops.
• Hires and directs activities of farm workers engaged in tilling soil and planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops.
• Performs various duties of farm workers, depending on farm size or season, including setting up and operating farm machinery, such as truck, tractor, disk harrow, and self-propelled harvester.
